WHY?...

I'm concerned with how people feel about themselves and others. I want them to enjoy their lives and I will do my best to make them as happy as possible. I just happen to work in the health and fitness industry.

I created Gym Cartel as I needed a platform to enrich peoples lives in a way I would never have achieved within the mirrored walls of a conventional gym.

WHAT?...

Since opening in February 2013, I have seen Gym Cartel evolve into a gym based community that welcomes all people ready to take their next step in health and fitness.

My role specifically is to keep our coaches and members on the road towards their goals. I want them to find their "flow" and realise that the gym is a place of enjoyment and not "necessary" pain.

After 17 years of coaching full time and chasing my own athletic goals, I have developed an acute understanding of what works and what doesn't. I have tried many things. I have failed at many things and I have always learned from my mistakes. 

And now...my passion is the children's classes. Watching my 13 year old daughter, 10 year old son and their friends have fun growing up in our gym environment...it's created a new drive for me. I also run CrossFit classes, coach individuals toward specific goals and create programs that my clients can follow in their own time. I'm more motivated than ever.

HOW?...

We have created a culture that provides the opportunity for constant progress amongst our members. However, the road is long and it’s important we celebrate where we are on the journey and we learn to enjoy every moment.

At Gym Cartel we encourage people to find balance in their lives. Train hard, but don’t forget it’s supposed to be fun.

We have a place of good principles where integrity is at the heart of everything we do. We have amazing coaches and members in our community that are forever looking to provide opportunities for each other.

We provide our members with success the best way we know how - by creating a culture that breeds it.

WHY?...

For as long as I can remember, being the best at whatever I do has always been my top priority, because it made me feel awesome. Pursuing this has led me to personal training as I want others to experience the joy of being their best on a daily basis.

WHAT?...

Coaching my clients through correct full range movements allows them to develop the necessary strength to increase their longevity. Each client has an individual program/training style to suit their wants and needs. Each program is centred around strength as I believe strength should be the basis of fitness.

HOW?...

Periodical training programs are designed to have high volumes and light loads to create the necessary platform to build on. They move through to moderate weights with shorter rep ranges finishing with testing weeks in order to reap the results from the training cycle.

WHY?

I am the most fulfilled in life when being in service to others - I feel creating a positive change in another’s life is one of the most gratifying experiences one can have. The Gym Cartel is an unique environment that allows me to do the job I love - helping others - while forever being supportive in my growth and development. Being in an environment working alongside so many talented coaches and athletes there is always something to learn, it is always easy to stay humble.

WHAT?

My aim is to have people leave the gym feeling better about their lives than when they walked in. Physical training is just one component of what I do. Educating people and providing them with knowledge to improve their bodies and mind is really where the magic happens. Can I teach people to move well in and outside of the gym? If lifestyle choices continually diminish their quality of life, can I assist people pinpoint the causes and guide them to change? Developing a greater self-awareness in people, helping them reclaim their agency and take ownership over themselves is what I strive for.

HOW?

By having a positive mindset and really listening to people to understand why they’ve come here, what they really want and how I can provide it. Not everyone comes to the gym for the same reason, not everyone has the same goals in life. Getting people to push safely past their preconceived limits and overcome fears and doubts is incredibly empowering.

For me CrossFit is more than just a workout; it's the highlight of my day, where I challenge myself both physically and mentally. Sharing this with others and helping them discover their own best part of the day is what excites me. I love being able to share my love for this extraordinary fitness community and empowering others to embrace their strength, resilience, and the best part of their day.

What?…

As a long time member turned part time coach I am fortunate enough to be be surrounded by a team of experienced coaches who continuously inspire me to improve and expand my knowledge. Learning from their expertise and different coaching styles I strive to guide others and help them navigate through movements and workouts with confidence.

How?…

Drawing upon my own training and passion for CrossFit, I strive to empower others to reach their full potential. I believe in creating a positive and inclusive environment through attentive instruction and ongoing support where every athlete feels supported and motivated to push beyond their limits.

WHY?...

I want to create an environment where young girls and boys, but also older men and women are comfortable in their own skin. As many people struggle in their lives with the negativity the world brings, I want to be the positivity in someone’s life. Coaching CrossFit to kids at Gym Cartel will help me create a positive environment where these kids can be proud of who they are and achieve their many goals. This not only helps me become the best version of myself but also the many people around me will become the best version of themselves.

WHAT?...

Since moving from my old gym and starting CrossFit at Gym Cartel the community has opened my eyes to the vast opportunities within CrossFit such as my potential as an athlete though also my potential as a coach. I cherish this opportunity I have been given. As this opportunity working besides Simon has taught me new things in which I then use in my own training. I have found by being given this opportunity there has been a change in myself as well as in the kids as they begin to experience progress and become more comfortable with who they are. 

HOW?...

I use my knowledge, age and experiences to connect with the kids. As being close in age with many of them I am able to connect in a way many adults aren’t. I let them know it’s not how long you have being doing CrossFit for it’s the morals and disciplines in which you follow that make you better. Yes….. time helps too, but it won’t help if you don’t stay on your training. It is also challenging in this world in this time for many boys, girls, women and men as there are so many expectations in which to live up to, but I am here to show that expectations and society normalities don’t matter; girls can be strong, boys don’t have to like weights, girls can do everything a guy can do as long as they try.
